Before I get into the FUN of When Death Is Hiding (Book 3) ARC applications, I’ve got some other fun stuff to share first!
🧠 LEARNING 🧠
On Sunday, I got overwhelmed (as I often do) by how many unread books I have in my house. They're spilling out of my bookcases into random stacks around the house and crates in my basement… and yet I somehow keep taking home more books from thrift stores, library sales, etc!
It must stop.
So I made myself a challenge.
I’m calling it ReBoYoBo… Read (the) Books You Bought, JEN!!! Come on.
THE RULES:
1) I ✨cannot book shop✨ until the challenge is complete (except indie books - still wanna support my indie author buddies)
2) I have to TRY reading each unread book I own to complete the challenge.
3) If I DNF, I have to decide:
➡️ Not Right Now: Keeping because I liked it enough to want to try again someday
➡️ Intentional Keep: Don't wanna try again but have good reason to keep it
➡️ Pass Along: Donate or send to a friend
4) I can still read books from the library, borrowed from friends, on kindle, etc.
Already off to a good start - I’ve DNFed one book (still need to decide if it’s a pass along or an intentional keep), and I’ve started a second book that I’m loving: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.
If you want to get through your physical TBR, join the challenge!! :)
Here are my 140 unread books. Too many books.
🎉 CELEBRATING 🎉
The end of March was an exciting time!
Our second Pathfinders Writing Collective challenge (PaWriCo March Madness) ended on March 31st. Our community divided into two teams and spent the month tracking how many hours we wrote. It was fun to see how much time I actually spent working on my book in a month. Almost 49 hours!! And that’s just editing time, not counting marketing or beta reading.
Plus, my team - the green team - won the challenge! But both teams did amazing, and our community wrote for almost 6,000 hours in March. WOW.
The BIGGEST win for me is that When Death Is Hiding went off to my editor, Addison Horner, this weekend!!!! I’ll get it back in the beginning of May, which means I have a month to start drafting (again) Book 4. I’ll share more updates about that process soon!
🎉 CELEBRATING PT 2🎉
Usually I talk here about what I’m struggling with… but besides general anxiety (lol) I don’t have AS much to say about struggles. What I’d rather focus on is the OTHER exciting thing…
ARC applications for When Death Is Hiding will open soon to the public!

🧘♀️ RESTING 🧘♀️
Last but not least, I’ve been trying to expand my horizons of resting and do thing that remind me that I’m more than just an author and a therapist. I’m a human!
I started doing heat + power yoga every Friday which is HARD but such a good challenge. My body feels stronger already!
I’ve moved onto playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth - this game is beautiful and has such an interesting premise. Very similar themes to the end of my series!
Halfway through a custom diamond painting that Kyle’s grandma got me of our cat Minnie.
We’re currently watching Dark Matter, White Lotus, and Righteous Gemstones. The Severance finale was wild!
I’m hoping to plant sunflowers soon! My dad gave me a bunch of seeds so once we’re past frost season, I’m going to plant them in my backyard :)
Happy anniversary (or should it be birthday??) to When Death Is Watching!! ❤️ I’m *still* not over the twists in that one — they’re so good, so good!!!
